SNIPER CHALLENGE - DAN VS NAT

16 Views · 5 years ago

You may have heard me say it before but it's worth saying again. We face a crucial time in our hunting history. If we are not prepared to stand to our digs and support true recreational hunting, then just accept what you get. Changes to firearm ownership in WA and Qld should give you a warning if you have the mindset to listen. If you want everything for free and without effort, then brace yourself for what is to come.

Wild dogs in my local area have been attacking livestock and causing havoc to landowners, in this video I'm out on a contracted shoot targeting these troublesome predators. I'm running the Pulsar thermal gear in an attempt to lower pressure being applied as animals venture out into the paddocks after dark. It's often a false perception with wild dogs if they are friend or foe, but this is a never ending battle which many landowners in Australia contend with.

Watch the video and you'll see how everything unfolded across three separate nights.

Rifle used, I always get asked that - It's a custom Tikka T3 chambered in 6mm BR, 18" Carbon Six CF wrapped barrel and Hi-Tec Industries CF stock. The suppressor is made by Shawmac Industries, which works amazingly well on this cartridge shooting Hornady 87gr Vmax Projectiles (all ammo is reloaded, no please don't ask me for load data as I don't share this information). Thermal scope is obviously a Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50. For scanner duties, I'm running newly announced Pulsar Merger LRF XL50 thermal binoculars.

Episode 4 is the follow on hunt from episode 3 where we go back again to hit the crop to help cull as many pigs as we can that are damaging the crop. Last episode we used the thermal to help find the pigs and this time we headed out early morning to use the drone to help find and hunt the pigs. We find some good pigs but not without chaos and drama, but what hunt is easy and ever goes to plan. Watch as the dogs work the crop and get some pigs in the afternoon and finish with a cracker. The drone proves to be a handy asset to help on the hunt.

Hey guys welcome back to episode 2. This episode we do it hard in the first episode and seam to always come back to camp and see the pigs and loan boars on the swamp next to our camp. So instead of doing it hard we decide to sit backlight a fire and wait for the pigs to come to us. Dan uses the pulsar thermal quantium lite to spot the pigs and then he walks down with the rifle and dogs to catch the big boars. We then go fishing but as you know we are terrible at fishing and lucky we spot a good boar out on his own and Rocko catches the big boar one out. Make sure to give the thumbs up if you enjoyed and subscribe to see the future episodes....

HEY GUYS
Dan heads out hunting with his mates in the middle of the wet season to train our younger dogs and they try their luck out on one of dans mates Kanes properties. They spot some good boars but make sure they work the wind right to put the hounds onto the boar scent to help train our younger dogs. They head out with the hounds in the summer heat and long grass and get some good pigs for the morning. Thanks for watching

E3 - Boars of the Far North

This shooting trip we are out hunting invasive feral pigs and the odd fox. There's plenty of bulk action packed footage in this video in both daylight and after the sun sets with the thermal gear, things get a little wild towards the end plus...... I'm running the bolt pretty hard on my new custom 308Win rifle.

Access into this area is with my mates Polaris XP1000 side by side buggy. This machine is purpose built for his contract shooting business and works amazingly well in the terrain type for pest control. Big thanks to him, my unnamed mate "Bucket" for the invite out seeking assistance.

Critters on the deck and not killing native animals and damaging agriculture is the aim of the game. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace in Australia and are classed as invasive pest species.

We are not shooting for human consumption, it is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis. Pigs are left where they lay as carrion, nothing generally lasts more than a week in the Aussie bush before it's just a few scattered remains.

I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressors and rifles used, both my mate and I hold the necessary permits in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
