Unfortunately, the COVID 19 pandemic has made it really tough for all our teams to get out for hunts, and with the rain spreading the pigs out it has been a challenge. But thanks to our dedicated teams we have been able to get this round of the championships completed, and we must say it’s come up pretty darn good; we hope you enjoy it.

Before kicking off round 3 though, let's take another look at the leaderboards and see where all our teams are at the moment. Last round was full on, with some absolute thumper boars caught all over the country, plenty of good sets of hooks were measured and some stonker sows were laid to rest as well. In Queensland Collar the dogs are leading by two points, just ahead of the bastard smith brothers who are determined to make a comeback this round.

Down in NSW, Team True Blue are tied with Dan & Mel both on 5 and a half points, with the state now being hit with good rainfall; the teams will have to work hard to find the pigs as they spread out and become harder to track.

Lastly up in the northern territory team hit and split and Matt Deveraux from Top End Arabs are neck to neck. Both teams have been catching some good hogs of late so it’s anyone's game at the moment.

In this series we join Matt Deveraux and the team at Top End Arabs as they hunt for some of the biggest boars in the northern territory. They mainly run their own line of Paulson Bull Arabs that they use to hunt down and hold big boars on the flood plains and find and battle hogs in the thick country around the plains. You will see them work young dogs and watch as their skills improve over time with hard work and plenty of action and excitement along the way.

The northern territory can be some of the best hunting in the world but when hunting with dogs you have to be on constant watch for crocs and pick and choose where and how you hunt. As a result to limit risks through out the dry season the team will find pigs mainly by sight, and then send the dogs after them. When the rains come they allow the dogs to use their noses more in the thick country to find and pull up boars for them.

Welcome to round one of the next level of the Grunter Hunter Championships. Our state based scoring system is now in full force with hunters competing on a state level in a more balance and fair manner. They receive points for the biggest boar, Barra and sow, as well as the longest tusks. Points are given to first, second and third places in each category and the hunters that procure the most points over the season, become the champion of their state.
