Country Outdoors is having a fish fry on the boat! But they have to catch the fish first.
Zach thinks it's stupid to buy fish at the grocery store so we're heading out to our local lake in Nashville TN (Old Hickory Lake ) to do some jug fishing for catfish. We're keeping it extra simple and cheap. Nothing but a pool noodle, fishing line, hook, weight and bait. We decided it would be cool to Catch, clean and cook the catfish all on the boat so we have brought out the Air Fryer. Fried catfish on the boat, why not!?

Ain’t no turkeys in Turkey??!
Did you know that dental tourism is a thing and did you know that there isn’t turkey’s in Turkey???? It’s unusual that Zach and Mary take a trip that isn’t 100% centered around hunting and fishing but this week it’s happening. Mary is dental work done in Turkey via visiting Isreal. This is my user impressions and review on the Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 Thermal Binocular. I've had this device from Pulsar in real hunting usage conditions, multiple times a week for a few months so far. It's an amazing thermal scanner and well worth considering if you're in the market. This isn't a "how to" video with boring unboxing and basic menu function explanations. This is my handle on the Merger as a shooter and user.
For those interested I have purchased this device since filming my review. I've put my money where my mouth is I think that highly of the Mergers
This shooting trip I'm out hunting feral pigs, foxes and wild deer. There's plenty shooting footage in this video with some long range daytime goats running the 6.5PRC, and a heap of close range kill shots using thermal once it was dark with the 308Win !!!
The weather conditions had been terrible prior to the trip with bad localised flooding. Access to a lot of country is not possible with the wet ground but riding around on my Suzuki King Quad AXI 500 definitely opens areas up, otherwise inaccessible to a regular 4x4.
Critters on the deck and not killing native animals and damaging agriculture is the aim of the game. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace in Australia and are mostly classed as invasive pest species. Shooting feral pigs is purely pest control, no animals are shot for consumption. Bacterial and diseases like brucellosis are prevalent in these areas.
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressor I hold the necessary permit in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
We were off to a great start but this morning, Skunk was super keen, it was hard to keep him in the Zuke. Brandon thinks he knows more than I do, so why can't he either drive or open the dang gates?
We were doing okay, the wild dogs were falling into step and the trapline was in place. Now to keep the pressure on, check, re-check and improve at every opportunity.
We are all very fond of our old "Zuke", the Susuki Sierra 1.3lt 4x4, however it has had a hard hard life. Soon it will be retired for a while and refurbished so it only had to do this one last trapline. Even Skunk looked worried but with traps in the ground, the show must go on.
Many years ago, I did a hunt with one of our legendary characters of the hunting industry. Dan Latella is the muzzleloader man and few can match his skill with the old flintlock.
Small game - rabbits, pigeons and predator control. I knew there was a rabbit population from the property owner, but had no idea there was this many around. I'm shooting my my FX Impact M3 .22 calibre for some BULK pest control shooting, headshot central as you will see. This is a professional pest control cull for a local problem. Rabbit hunting at night is an Aussie pastime, add in a modern twist of PCP hunting with thermal and night vision equipment. You can envisage good results if the rabbit numbers are prevalent. There is plenty of air rifle hunting and shooting action in this YouTube video for you all to watch. Nice to thin out the Invasive Indian Myna bird population along with a few feral pigeons.
FX Impact M3 is shooting on song in .22 calibre shooting 23gr Patriot Javelin slugs. Scope is a PARD NV008s LRF with ballistic hold over capability. Thermal hand scanner duties went to the amazing Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 binoculars. For those interested my FX Impact M3 is running a Huma-Air high flow slug & pellet probe but no other power upgrades. It has a standard 600mm barrel with superior liner (not heavy). I'm firing the 23gr slugs at about 925 fps for sub MOA accuracy (Which as 44 ft/lbs for the UK guys that feel the requirement to know this). Few Sabre Tactical upgrades in the mix to the rifle body like the Arca Rail 2, TRS & bag rider. Air supply is by a ShootAir light weight composite tank to refill the rifle bottle as required.
A good portion of these rabbits shot are utilised for the pot or pet food.
I am a licensed vertebrate pest control - contract shooters in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressor, I hold the necessary permit in NSW for use. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
