a night run on the quad shooting/catching feral pigs.. add some excitement to the night i caught one myself by hand.. head on action haha enjoy
This shooting trip I'm solo and hunting invasive feral pigs, foxes and feral cats. There's plenty of bulk action packed footage in this video in both daylight and after the sun sets with the thermal gear.
It was great to be out riding around on my Suzuki King Quad AXI 500 which definitely opens areas up, otherwise inaccessible to a regular 4x4. The weather conditions deteriorated throughout the evening which made time in the paddocks not so pleasant in the end.
I'm not shooting for human consumption on this trip, it is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis. Pigs are left where they lay as carrion, nothing generally lasts more than a week in the Aussie bush before it's just a few scattered remains.
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressors, both my mate and I hold the necessary permits in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
Wild dogs - The plan was a sit and wait in a location the wild dogs have been spotted on a dead cow. I have had my 4G trail camera on this pile for a few weeks. In the week prior to this hunt I had regularly been seeing a few younger dogs on a cow carcass each afternoon. The week before I had shot another dog here with my 6.5PRC. My son in tow for his first experience.
This time I was back with my 6mm BR with intention to remove another or two of these troublesome predators. Watch the video and you'll see how everything unfolded to plan, which is rare but no complaints.

We are out hunting on foot, stalking in the beautiful mountains of NSW for trophy Fallow Bucks and Red Stags. This video is part #2 from 3 over a week long hunt. I wish I could say that we smashed an absolute monster buck or stag on this day, but we didn't and that's fine. This is hunting and not shooting, but we filmed some amazing animal and mountain scenery, with a decent boar shot at the end of the day.
I've been very fortunate to gain access in an area like this with a good mate who wishes to remain unnamed (huge thanks to him). This trip we have paired up for some EPIC buck hunting action chasing these dynamic animals in the rut.
As I work through footage I will be posting the episodes up. Ultimately I wish to bolt this all together in one long hunting film.
Experiencing the fallow buck rut is something every hunter should try to do. They are amped up, croaking for dominance, stinky and keen for a fight. It's often extremely fast paced hunting of what is normally an elusive, shy animal.
The deer taken are free-range wild animals on private property. This is an experience I try to do each year as the hunting is amazing, and something unique to cherish. It's much different to the regular bulk pest control shooting I normally do for work. Understand that this is a recreational activity, and the deer are a game resource on this property.
For those interested my rifle is a fully customised Tikka T3X, chambered in 30-06. The stock is carbon fibre made by Southfort Labs in NZ (now discontinued). Blued fluted sporter barrel, and spiral fluted bolt. Scope is a Swarovski Z5 2.4-12x50mm BT, and I'm shooting handloads with 178gr Hornady ELD-X projectiles at 2830fps.
Time to pull all the "Bling", the chains and the metal, out of the ground, clean it up and get ready for the next project. Was there time for one more dog?
Skunk seemed to be very confident, while Brandon, Dash, Rob and Chancy just enjoyed the ride.
Last episode Sam and the team missed a cracker of a stag, this episode they are heading out again for round 2, wish them luck.

Guns & Game E1
Throughout this episode, we Join Beau Lynd, his team of dogs, and a few mates on hunts in far north Queensland Australia. Beau mainly hunts in the cairns region on cane properties and in thick rain forest country, but you will also see the boys head to the cape towards the end of the episode. The pigs are hard to find and very hard to catch, even if you see a hog on the edge of the cane it's highly likely you won't be able to catch it. As they say in this country, the pig you see is the pig you miss. The sheer nature of the region makes controlling feral pigs very difficult and hunting with dogs is the most effective way of keeping numbers down. Beau works hard on local farms, drives trucks, and is very busy especially during the cane cutting season, but whenever he gets a spare moment he's out in the bush with his dogs catching hogs. Beaus done a great job putting this video together for Uhunt and he's only getting better, show your support for beau in the comments below, he'd love to know what you think and if he can do anything different in the future.
